1. Acceptance of Terms
Welcome to Budgium. These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Budgium ("we," "us," or "our") governing your access to and use of the Budgium application and related services.
By creating an account, accessing, or using Budgium, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use Budgium.
2. Description of Service
Budgium is a personal finance management application that provides:
- •Transaction tracking and categorization
- •Budget planning and monitoring
- •AI-powered financial insights and chat assistant
- •Bank statement import functionality (PDF, images, spreadsheets)
- •Multi-currency support
- •Financial analytics and reporting
- •Optional "Bring Your Own Key" (BYOK) AI integration
The service is provided for personal, non-commercial use only. Commercial use requires separate written agreement.
3. User Accounts
3.1 Account Creation
To use Budgium, you must create an account through our authentication provider (Auth0). You agree to:
- •Provide accurate and complete registration information
- •Keep your account information current
- •Maintain the confidentiality of your login credentials
- •Notify us immediately of any unauthorized account access
3.2 Account Security
You are solely responsible for all activities that occur under your account. We recommend enabling multi-factor authentication through Auth0 for enhanced security.
3.3 Age Requirement
You must be at least 16 years of age to use Budgium. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this requirement.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree to use Budgium only for lawful purposes. You must not:
- ✕Use the service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
- ✕Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems, other users' accounts, or data
- ✕Interfere with or disrupt the service, servers, or networks
- ✕Upload malicious code, viruses, or harmful content
- ✕Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the service without permission
- ✕Share your account credentials with others
- ✕Impersonate another person or entity
- ✕Use the service to harass, abuse, or harm others
- ✕Circumvent rate limits or security measures
- ✕Collect or harvest user data without authorization
Sensitive Information Warning
Do not enter into Budgium: social security numbers, passport numbers, full credit/debit card numbers, bank account numbers (beyond what you choose for tracking purposes), or other highly sensitive identification documents. Budgium is designed for budget tracking, not secure document storage.
5. API Key Usage (BYOK Feature)
Budgium offers an optional "Bring Your Own Key" feature allowing you to use your own OpenAI or Anthropic API keys. When using this feature:
- •You are responsible for compliance with the respective API provider's terms of service
- •You are solely responsible for any charges incurred on your API account
- •You acknowledge that your queries are sent to third-party AI providers
- •You grant us permission to use your API key solely to process your requests within Budgium
- •You may remove your API keys at any time through your account settings
Security: Your API keys are encrypted at rest using AES encryption. We never share your API keys with third parties other than the respective AI provider for processing your requests.
6. User Content and Data
6.1 Ownership
You retain full ownership of all financial data and content you input into Budgium. We do not claim ownership of your data.
6.2 License to Us
By using Budgium, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process, store, and display your data solely for the purpose of providing the service to you. This license terminates when you delete your account.
6.3 Data Accuracy
You are responsible for the accuracy of the financial data you enter. Budgium provides tools to help manage your finances but makes no guarantees about the accuracy of imported data, AI categorizations, or calculated analytics.
6.4 Data Portability
You may export your data at any time through the application's export features. Upon account deletion, you will have the opportunity to download your data before it is permanently removed.
7. Intellectual Property
The Budgium application, including its design, features, code, logos, and branding, is owned by Budgium and protected by intellectual property laws.
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use Budgium for personal, non-commercial purposes.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, reverse engineer, or create derivative works from any part of the service without our prior written permission.
8. Disclaimers
No Financial Advice
Budgium is a financial management tool, not a financial advisor. The insights, suggestions, and information provided by our service, including AI-generated content, are for informational purposes only and should not be considered financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Always consult with qualified professionals before making financial decisions.
"As Is" Service
BUDGIUM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
9. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW:
- •Budgium and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
- •We shall not be liable for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or use arising from your use of the service
- •Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us (if any) in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim
These limitations apply even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages and regardless of the legal theory upon which the claim is based.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Budgium and its operator from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:
- •Your use of the service
- •Your violation of these Terms
- •Your violation of any third-party rights
- •Any content you submit to the service
11. Termination
11.1 By You
You may terminate your account at any time by using the account deletion feature in your settings or by contacting us. Upon termination, you may export your data before it is deleted.
11.2 By Us
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or if we discontinue the service. We will provide reasonable notice when possible, except in cases of severe violations.
11.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination, your right to use the service immediately ceases. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including: Disclaimers, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, and Governing Law.
12. Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. When we make changes:

- •For material changes, we will notify you via email or in-app notification at least 30 days before the changes take effect
- •Your continued use of Budgium after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the new Terms
If you do not agree to the modified Terms, you must stop using the service and delete your account.
13. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the European Union and the applicable member state where the service operator resides, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of Budgium shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation first. If negotiation fails, disputes shall be submitted to the competent courts of the operator's jurisdiction.
EU Consumer Rights: If you are a consumer in the EU, you retain any mandatory consumer protection rights granted by the laws of your country of residence.
14. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions will continue to be valid and enforceable. The unenforceable provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable while preserving its intent.
15. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Budgium regarding your use of the service and supersede any prior agreements.
